What interior detailing actually is
An interior detail is a deep clean, and the difference is extraction. A vacuum picks up what is loose. Heated extraction injects hot water into the carpet pile, breaks the bond on years-old soil, and pulls it back out. That is what changes the colour of a footwell.
Steam comes first, lifting what is baked into vents, seams and console plastics. Then shampoo and extraction on carpets and cloth, and a dedicated cleaner and conditioner on leather. Odour is the last step and the one most people are really buying — removing the source is the fix, which is why a scent bomb wears off in a week.
Who it’s for — and who it isn’t
Worth it if…
- Cars with kids, pets, or a long daily commute
- Anything without a proper interior clean in a year
- Pre-sale and lease returns
- Smoke, pet and spill odour removal
We’ll steer you elsewhere if…
- A car that just needs a vacuum and a wipe-down. The Express Detail covers that
- Flood, mould or biohazard remediation. Different trade — we will refer you
- Torn seats, cracked dash panels or burn holes. Cleaning will not fix them
Saying this costs us some jobs. That trade is deliberate.
How the job runs
-
Step 01 15 min
Strip and assess
Everything out, mats separate, and we look at the stains together.
-
Step 02 20 min
Dry pass
Vacuum and compressed air. Pet hair gets a rubber-tool pass first.
-
Step 03 30 min
Steam
Lifts grime out of textured plastic that a cloth slides across.
-
Step 04 45–60 min
Shampoo and heated extraction
Agitate, dwell, extract. Repeat on anything still holding colour.
-
Step 05 20 min
Leather clean and condition
A conditioner that feeds the topcoat rather than sitting on it as shine.
-
Step 06 20 min
Odour treatment
Source removal, then fabric and the ventilation path. Not a scent.
-
Step 07 20 min
Glass, dress and final walk
Trim dressed matte rather than greasy, then a walkthrough with you.

What we use, and why
- Vapour steam
- High-temperature, low-moisture. Lifts baked-on soil without soaking foam padding.
- Heated carpet extractor
- The heat is what makes the difference on old, bonded soil.
- pH-balanced leather cleaner
- Aggressive cleaners strip the topcoat — the actual cause of most cracking.
Durability and aftercare
- How long it lasts
- Six to twelve months in a normally used car. Daily drivers with kids or dogs land at the short end.
- Between visits
- Rubber all-weather mats do more to protect carpet than anything else you can buy. Handle spills the day they happen.
- What we do not promise
- Some stains are dye transfer or bleaching and they are permanent. We tell you which at the walkaround, before you pay.
Interior Detailing questions
Will you get every stain out?
No, and anyone who promises that is guessing. Organic and oil stains usually come out completely. Dye transfer, sun bleaching and anything set for years may only lighten. We tell you which yours is before we start.
How long until the carpets are dry?
Two to four hours with the windows cracked, longer in humidity. We extract as dry as possible, so the car is drivable immediately.
Can you get rid of pet hair?
Yes. It adds time on heavily-used vehicles, which is why pet hair is a named upcharge rather than a surprise on the invoice.
Can you remove smoke odour?
Usually. Smoke embeds in fabric, headliner and the ventilation system, so it takes treatment in all three. Heavy long-term smoking is the hardest case and we will be honest about the odds.
Is the exterior wash really included?
Yes. The Deep Interior package includes a full exterior hand wash — the price in the table is the whole job.
